SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

DESCRIPTION: Loose fitting Tarski gathered sleeve top has a neck bind and ties in the sleeve hem that can be tightened or loosened depending on the style you desire. Depending on the fabric you select to make this style in, the Tarski can be worn in summer as a casual top/dress to the beach or brunch at the cafe, or accessorized to be worn out at night.

This garment is suitable for beginners with a little bit of sewing experience.

ALTERATIONS TO THE PATTERN: This pattern comes as the top length, but it can easily be lengthened to be worn as a dress. *To make the dress, purchase fabric once you have adjusted the length to your personal preference.

FABRICS: Cotton Poplin, Cotton Voile, Linen, Cotton/Linen blends, Cheese cloth, Chambray, Silk or stable light to mid-weight woven fabrics. Fabrics that have some drape will work well in this style especially to create the sleeve fullness with ties. If using one way patterns/prints extra fabric may be required.

NOTIONS:

✁Matching or contrast sewing thread.

✁Loop turner for ties.

✁*Optional rotary cutter for ties and bias neck bind.

✁*The self bias bind pattern can be substituted for store purchased 12mm single fold bias bind (size 8 to 14 - .70cm / size 16 to 20 - .80cm / size 22 to 26 - .90cm).

SEAM ALLOWANCES AND FABRIC EDGE FINISHING: All seam allowances are 1.2cm, unless otherwise noted. To finish the edges of your fabric you can use an overlocker (3 thread), zig-zag or suggested finishing stitch that is available on your machine. *For advanced sewers, binding seams or French seams is another option for finishing.

ENHANCING YOUR SEWING SKILLS: This pattern will help you become proficient at bias bind neck finishes that can be applied to many garments.

TIME TO MAKE: As an estimate this garment will take you 4-6 hours to make depending on your sewing confidence level. *It is suggested that you make a toile of this pattern in calico or muslin (or fabric similar to what you have selected to use in the final garment) to personalize fit/length, and practice sewing techniques.
